Ajax wireless alarms for existing Sydney homes

An Ajax alarm in a house that was never wired for one. Wireless detectors, a hub, and an app that shows you what set it off. Installed by a licensed security contractor, without chasing a single wall.

Replacing an old alarm system

If your alarm is old, keeps false-alarming, or the parts are no longer made, an Ajax system can usually replace it in one visit. We can often reuse some of the existing detector positions and take the old panel out.

If the existing system is still sound, it may only need a service.

Why wireless for an existing home

In a finished house the cost of an alarm is mostly the cabling: pulling wires through ceilings and cavities, patching and painting. Current wireless systems remove that. Detectors run for years on a battery, talk to the hub on their own radio band, and the whole system is up in a day.

We use Ajax for this work. Its detectors take a photo when they trigger, so you can see whether it was the cat or a person before you call anyone, and the hub keeps working on battery and mobile data if the power or internet drops.

What a typical system includes

  • A hub with battery and mobile backup
  • Motion detectors, with photo verification where it matters
  • Door and window contacts
  • Keypad or fob arming, and the app
  • Optional monitoring to a control room
  • Sirens inside and out

How it runs

Design

We walk the house with you and decide what needs a detector and what does not. Over-covering a house causes false alarms.

Install

Usually one visit. No conduit, no plaster repair, no painter.

Set up

Users, arming schedules and notifications configured with you, and a test of every device before we leave.

When wired is still the right answer

A new build or a major renovation with the walls open should be wired, on a platform like ICT Protege that also handles doors and integrates with the rest of the house. Wireless is the right tool for a finished home, not a substitute for design.

Questions we get asked

Do wireless alarms get jammed or lose signal?

Reputable systems use their own radio band with encryption and report interference. Ajax detectors also report their signal level, so we know at install whether every device is solid.

How long do the batteries last?

Several years on most detectors, and the app tells you well before one needs changing.

Can it be monitored?

Yes. Systems can report to a monitoring centre, to your phone, or both.

Do you need a licence to install alarms in NSW?

Yes. Alarm installation is licensed security work under the Security Industry Act. Our licence is 000110371.

Can I add cameras later?

Yes. Cameras and the alarm can share the app, and a wired CCTV system can sit alongside a wireless alarm.
